The hotel industry of Greece has made great strides in the last decade.
Starting almost from scratch, main centres now offer hotels in six
categories. Prices, regardless of category, vary from region to region,
with Athens topping the list. Charges are for the room, not per person,
although a reduction is usually allowed to an individual occupying a
double room. During the main season - mid-March to the end of September
- many hotels make half-board compulsory.
Greece also has several bungalow colonies, motels, camping sites,
apartments, youth hostels, and in rural areas and the Greek islands
houses that offer clean and charmingovernight lodgings, which are
controlled by the Tourist Organization. Booking a hotel online earlier
if you intent to visit Greece during the high season is always the
cheapest way.
